During the fifty years I have been photographing nature I have seen the world change. Some photographic opportunities that were common when I began have become rare or nonexistent. All have diminished. Species that were rare are now very close to extinction. The world of nature has lost health and diversity at an ever accelerating pace. All of us are the reason, and a child could predict the outcome. The changes I witnessed drove me to see and photograph as much as I can while it was still possible. I share a few of those photographs on this website.
Because the images are organized by subject, older photographs that were captured on film emulsions are displayed next to images from the latest digital cameras. Some photographs could be better if captured with a modern digital camera, but by the time they existed some photographic situations did not. I am fortunate to have had the film. I am even more fortunate to have had the experiences.
The photographs come from Australia, Malaysia, and North America. They are organized into five small galleries: Terrain, Water, Trees, Mammals, Birds, and lastly B&W for all monochrome images. To view details, images are expandable to a maximal size appropriate for the device in use.
Most photographs here are heavily curated from my other website dmcPhoto.com, while a few are displayed only here. All that are displayed here have been reprocessed to the best of my ability, with less compression and higher resolution.
I am a member of, and adhere to, the Nature First principles of responsible nature photography. If you also enjoy capturing photographs in natural environments, I hope you will too.
