While photographing nature over the last fifty years, I have seen the world change. Some photographic opportunities that were common when I began have become rare or nonexistent. All have diminished. Species that were rare are now near extinction. The world of nature has lost health and diversity at an ever accelerating pace. All of us are the reason, and a child could predict the outcome. These changes drove me to see and photograph as much as I could while it was still possible. I share a few of those photographs on this website.
Because the collection is organized by subject, photographs captured on film—dating back to the early 1980s—are displayed alongside contemporary digital images. While modern digital cameras offer higher image quality, film allowed me to capture subjects and circumstances that have since become nearly impossible to find. I feel incredibly fortunate not only to have these film records, but to have lived the experiences themselves. For clarity, images originally captured on film are marked with a "Film" designation in their captions.
The photographs come from Australia, Malaysia, and North America. They are organized into five small galleries: Terrain, Water, Trees, Mammals, Birds, and lastly the monochrome galleries B&W-L and B&W-W, for landscapes and wildlife, respectively.
Most photographs on this site are heavily curated from dmcPhoto.com, which I launched in 1999. Others are displayed only here. All photographs on this site have recently been reprocessed to the best of my ability, with less compression and higher resolution. To view details, all images are expandable to a maximal size appropriate for the device in use.
